HOW I CAN HELP

Inter-racial and Non - racial Couple Relationship Counselling

Including sexual difficulties

Relationship Counselling is a means of resolving problems and conflicts that couples have not been able to handle effectively on their own. This involves couples in a discussion about personal issues with an empathic Counsellor (who understands the diplomacy involved) to discuss openly their thoughts and feelings. The main aim is to help partners gain insight and understanding of themselves as a couple and work through difficulties and differences. This requires both partners to be willing to work through the hard yards in order to save the relationship. My duty of care as a counsellor is to provide a safe neutral space and use my skills to guide clients to a mutually respectful understanding of each other’s emotional stances.

Grief and Loss

Including beloved family pets

The loss of someone you love is devastating for most of us. The personal grief that follows is even more daunting to the soul. I believe grief due to loss has no cure. Most of us have to live with it forever. Don’t believe when people suggest you will get over it over time. The majority of people will not ever get over the reality that they will never again meet their loved ones other than in dreams. However, there are therapies that can allow you to contain sorrow and move forward.
Most people go through all of these stages, but not everyone moves between them smoothly. Sometimes, people get stuck on one stage and find it difficult to move on. I can help unlock those stages.

There are 4 initial stages that most people have to go through

1

Accepting that your loss really happened.

2

Containing the pain that comes with grief.

3

Trying to adjust to life without the person who has passed.

4

Emotionally adjusting to grief over time and moving forward.

Domestic Abuse

Domestic violence also known as DV can involve physical, emotional, mental, financial and or sexual abuse. DV can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or social background.

Domestic abuse against men

In general, it is more common for women to be affected by domestic violence, but it’s important to know that men can be victims too. The situation for males or females in a DV relationship is a horrendous experience and should not be tolerated. Moreover, males may face the additional stigma of looking weak or appearing to be victims limiting the ability to talk about DV with peers. Pain and being distraught have no gender. It is okay for a man to cry as it is for a woman to cry. Whatever your gender identity, it’s important to know that abuse is never OK. I can help.

In today’s unstable world from Tokyo to Madrid, there are two words in every language that is universally understood. Those two words are Stress and Anxiety. It is important to know that one way forward is containment. Counselling is a way to help you explore and understand what is causing your stress and anxiety. We can work together and find some specific therapy pathways that will help you to manage your day-to-day struggles. One of the main pillars of counselling is being non-judgmental. In order for me to help you I need your cooperation and trust in talking to me frankly and honestly about what is troubling you leading to stress and anxiety. Therapy and talking things out together can help us find effective ways for coping with your anxiety so that your symptoms have less of an impact on your daily life and activities.

PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

To illuminate what PTSD in simple terms means the after effects of a traumatic experience that has left psychological and emotional scars that keep reoccurring like nightmares and keep repeating itself time and time again. It is important to know healing the effects of PTSD is a longtime complex process. Anyone who has experienced a traumatic event in their lives can develop PTSD at any age. This includes combat veterans, civilians who have witnessed a war zone, torture and interrogation victims, refugees who have fled war, institutionalised former and current prison inmates and people who have experienced or witnessed a physical or sexual assault through adulthood, DV abuse, an accident, a disaster, or other serious events that has lead to a system shutdown. PTSD often can be a catalyst for drug abuse, depression anxiety, and dysfunctional relationships among others. Evidence shows that exercise and mindfulness are very helpful in the treatment of PTSD combined with psychological therapies. It is a good beginning. I can help.
